EmailTimer.App

The best email countdown timers, honestly

By Danish Mohammed, founder. , updated 12 min read

Twelve tools will sell you an email countdown timer, at prices from nothing to six figures a year, and most of the comparisons you will find are written by one of them. I build one of them too, so read this as a vendor’s page that shows its sources. Every price below was checked on 16 September 2026 against the vendor’s own page, except the NiftyImages rows, which were re-read on 23 September 2026 after it republished its whole price list. Four of the twelve are recommended over EmailTimer.App for specific jobs. Pick by the job: the cheapest tool for a one-off sale is not the tool for an evergreen cart-abandonment flow.

Prices and free tiers, checked on 16 September 2026

Every figure comes from the vendor’s own pricing page, linked in the sources. “Views” and “opens” both mean an inbox fetching the image.

Best free timer with no account: CleverTimer

CleverTimer states “No Account Required”, “No watermark, no branding” and “Free without limits”. For one dated email this week, it is the fastest route in the category and costs nothing.

What you give up is everything that comes after: no evergreen timers, no analytics, no way to change a deadline once the mail has gone, and nobody to ask when Outlook shows a static frame. Use it for a one-off, not for a programme.

Best unlimited free views: CountdownMail

CountdownMail’s free tier carries unlimited views, and unusually it puts API access and two years of analytics retention on the free plan rather than behind a paywall. Its pricing page says paid plans start at $7 a month, and they mostly buy branding removal. The per-tier figures are injected by Paddle at page load rather than written in the page, so third-party listings of them are often wrong. The only figure quoted here is the one the page states in words.

The trade is the badge. Free timers carry “Powered by CountdownMail”, and its own FAQ concedes the three category failures: Outlook desktop showing only the first frame, iOS 15 and later caching producing an incorrect time, and branding on the free plan. If you do not mind a badge inside your creative, this is the most generous free tier that comes with an API.

Best cheap watermark-free free tier: Countdown Builder

Countdown Builder runs a Free Forever plan whose timers carry no watermark, then Email Countdown at $5.99 a month and Business at $19.99 a month with a custom timer domain, both advertising unlimited timer views. Both prices are shown as discounts, struck through from $9.99 and $24.98, so treat them as promotional. For a small sender who wants no branding and no metering, that is the cheapest combination here.

It is a new, small operation running aggressive comparison content, so there is less public track record than with the older names. Check what its refund and uptime terms say before you put a Black Friday campaign on it.

Best credit model: ClickTimer

ClickTimer gives 10,000 impressions per countdown a month free with no watermark, then sells credits that do not expire, from EUR 0.23 per 10,000 down to EUR 0.06 per 10,000 above a million. Its pricing route asks you to sign in, so those figures come from its other public pages rather than from a table you can open cold. It is the only credit-based pricing in the category, and it suits a sender with three big sends a year rather than a steady monthly volume.

Buying credits rather than a subscription means you are not paying in the eight months when you send nothing.

Best widget range under $10: Sendtric

Sendtric is the most actively maintained of the cheap tools and has the widest widget set: motion styles, vertical timers, count-up, transparent backgrounds, polls and weather. Micro is $9 a month for 150,000 views, Standard $39 for a million, Power $69 for five million.

Two things to know before you start. The free generator asks for a name and an email address and a confirmation before it releases the code, and the free plan watermarks above 10,000 monthly views. Evergreen sits on paid tiers, start-on-send is Power at $69, and the API is a separate product from $149 a month. The long version is in the Sendtric alternative page.

Cheapest at 100,000 views: MotionMail

MotionMail is $10 a month for 100,000 views and gives 20,000 free, which is double Sendtric. Prices from its own pricing table.

The limits are published in its own documentation and worth reading first: the animation is capped at 45 seconds and “Every time your email is re-opened, the countdown timer will start ticking down again”. Free keeps MotionMail branding permanently, there is no evergreen model, and its public forum carries unanswered bug reports. Detail in the MotionMail alternative page.

Largest free view allowance: MailTimers

MailTimers publishes 100,000 free views a month, the largest metered free allowance here, then Startup at $9.99 a month, or $7.99 annual, for 150,000.

Free keeps MailTimers branding, withholds custom fonts and evergreen, and caps the countdown at 30 days, which rules out any launch with a longer runway. Every URL in its sitemap carries the same last-modified date of 20 June 2024, so plan on a product that is not changing.

Best if you already build in Stripo: the Stripo timer block

If your campaigns are built in Stripo, the timer is one block away and needs no second invoice. Pricing runs Free with 1,000 timer opens, Basic $20 a month for 100,000, Medium $45 for 200,000, Pro $125 for 500,000.

Read Stripo’s own help article before you commit. Opening the template in the editor spends a timer open. When the allowance runs out, “GIF pictures with a timer will be replaced with a single-pixel image”, and buying more views does not repair the emails already opened, because Gmail has cached the blank pixel. That failure mode is the subject of the Stripo timer alternative page.

Best for data-driven images: NiftyImages

NiftyImages is the other tool that does timers and personalized images on one subscription, and its higher tiers add rule sets, charts, polls and data stores that nothing else at this level offers. Read on 23 September 2026, it prices three tiers against a slider of opens a month: Starter from $59 at 25,000 opens to $549 at 500,000, Growth from $149 to $639, Scale from $239 to $729. Above 500,000 opens, and on the Enterprise tier, pricing is a quote.

There is no free plan, only a trial, though the trial now states that it has no time limit and needs no card. The developer API and MCP moved to the Enterprise tier, which publishes no price at all. If the images need to read from a live feed, buy it anyway. The full comparison is in the NiftyImages alternative page.

Best if you already own the QA suite: Litmus Personalize

Litmus Personalize does timers, scratch-offs, live polls and add-to-calendar, and it arrives with the previews, proofing and analytics that email developers already pay Litmus for. Its pricing page is now a contact form headed “Litmus is now part of Validity Engage”.

The last published structure, reported by emailexpert, put the Core plan at US$500 a month with 50,000 Personalize impressions. The same report says a silent revision on 1 August 2025 eliminated the entry-level Basic tier. That is $10.00 per thousand impressions for the timer, which only makes sense if you want the suite. More in the Litmus Personalize alternative page.

Best enterprise personalization: Movable Ink

If the requirement is one-to-one creative decided per recipient across email, mobile and web, with an implementation team attached, Movable Ink is the correct purchase and a timer tool is not a substitute.

It publishes no prices. Vendr reports a median contract of $185,355 a year, ranging from $89,230 to $312,537, with professional services charged on top. The narrow case for moving, which is paying six figures and using two modules, is set out in the Movable Ink alternative page.

Where EmailTimer.App wins, and where it does not

It wins on three things. Countdown timers and personalized images come out of one render engine, so the hours left, the first name and a unique voucher code arrive in one image on the $19 plan. Every timing model is on every plan, including evergreen from first open and evergreen from send, which most tools charge for. And the API is $49 a month rather than $149 at Sendtric, or an Enterprise quote at NiftyImages.

Hi Maya, your cart is still here, with 21 hours 30 minutes 00 seconds left and the code MAYA-7QX2 Hi Tom, your cart is still here, with 08 hours 15 minutes 00 seconds left and the code TOM-K4RD
Two recipients of one EmailTimer.App template. The countdown, the first name and the voucher code are drawn into a single image by one render.

The free tier is 5,000 opens a month, which is the smallest here except Stripo’s. It carries no watermark and no card, and it is deliberately sized to run one real campaign rather than a programme.

What it does not win. It is not the cheapest at low volume: MotionMail at $10 and Sendtric at $9 are both cheaper for a plain timer. It has no builder, no polls, no scratch-offs, no charts, no live data feeds and no A/B split tests. There is no SOC 2 report, no negotiated contract and no signed uptime credit. One person writes the code and answers support within one business day, which cuts both ways: the answer comes from whoever wrote the renderer, and there is no overnight cover.

One more piece of honesty, because it decides more purchases than any feature. Every vendor on this page asserts compatibility and none of them shows you a photographed inbox. The client behaviour table here is documented from how Apple Mail, Gmail and Outlook are known to handle images, and the editor previews each case before you send. No timer I have built has yet been photographed rendering in a real inbox. When that changes, the countdown timer guide will say so with pictures.

How to move, whichever way you go

  1. Inventory what embeds a timer today, automations before broadcasts. A flow keeps sending long after the project is closed.
  2. Record each timer’s pixel width, deadline in UTC, font and whether it is clickable. Width matters most: a wider image reflows an Outlook layout that worked yesterday.
  3. Rebuild one timer in the new tool at the same width, then swap only the src value inside the existing <img> tag. Width, alt text and link wrapper stay as they are.
  4. Choose the timing model deliberately. A broadcast wants a fixed date, a flow wants evergreen from first open or from send. The differences are in the timer types guide.
  5. Test frame one as a still, the expired state, dark mode and the alt text. Send one message to Gmail and one to Outlook on Windows before you schedule anything.
  6. Keep the old account funded until every delivered campaign that uses its images has stopped being read. Cancelling turns those into broken images, and a delivered email cannot be edited.

Questions and answers

What is the best free email countdown timer?

CleverTimer if you want no account and no branding for a one-off, and CountdownMail if you want unlimited views and an API and can live with a “Powered by CountdownMail” badge. Both were checked on 16 September 2026.

Which tool has the largest free view allowance?

MailTimers publishes 100,000 views a month, though free keeps its branding and caps the countdown at 30 days. CountdownMail’s free tier is unlimited views with a badge.

Do countdown timers work in Outlook?

Outlook on Windows draws only the first frame of a GIF, so no tool animates there, and frame one has to be a correct still image on its own. Apple Mail pre-fetches at delivery and Gmail’s proxy caches per recipient, which is why a timer can look frozen or wrong in both.

Which timer tool has an API on a cheap plan?

CountdownMail includes API access on its free tier, and the API here is on the $49 Growth plan. Sendtric charges $149 a month, and NiftyImages puts its developer API on an Enterprise tier with no published price.

Is a dedicated timer tool cheaper than the one in my builder?

Usually, once volume matters. Stripo’s timer is 100,000 opens at $20 a month and charges you for editing the template, against 250,000 opens at $19 here, and the cheap dedicated tools start under $10.
