Kickdynamic is gone. Here is where its timers went
By Danish Mohammed, founder. 5 min read
If you came here from a bookmark, a slide deck or an old email template, here is the short version. Kickdynamic no longer exists as a company or as a website. Its technology is now sold as Litmus Personalize, and Litmus itself belongs to Validity.
Two acquisitions in four years, and nobody left a forwarding address.
What the domain does today, checked on 17 September 2026
kickdynamic.com still resolves in DNS and still answers on port 443. It does not serve Kickdynamic.
Over HTTPS the certificate presented covers *.wpengine.com and wpengine.com and nothing else, so the hostname does not match and a browser refuses the connection. Ignore the certificate and the server answers with HTTP 404, the page title “Site Not Configured | 404 Not Found”, and this body text:
This domain is successfully pointed at WP Engine, but is not configured for an account on our platform.
That is a hosting provider’s default error page. Nobody has set up a redirect to Litmus, to Validity, or to anywhere else. A brand with a decade of trade press and inbound links is parked on a shared host and pointed at nothing.
What happened, in order
11 November 2021. Litmus announced it had acquired Kickdynamic. The press release says Litmus “expands its portfolio of email marketing solutions to include Kickdynamic’s dynamic content automation and AI-driven product recommendations”. Kickdynamic had been founded in London in 2012.
Through 2022 and 2023. The open-time rendering product was folded into the Litmus suite and renamed Litmus Personalize. Countdown timers, live polls and personalized images continued as features of a larger platform.
10 April 2025. Validity announced it “has completed the acquisition of Litmus, the leading global provider of email optimization and testing solutions”. The Kickdynamic technology now sat two owners deep.
Today. Litmus’s personalization page still lists “Countdown Timers”, described as a way to “Create urgency for an upcoming sale, promotional offer, or special event”. The other five names on it are Scratch-Offs, Live Polls, Add-to-Calendar, Animated Video and Interest Signals. litmus.com/personalize returns 404, and litmus.com/pricing redirects to a contact-sales form, so no price is published anywhere on the site.
If your emails still point at a Kickdynamic URL
Check first, because this is the part that costs money.
Kickdynamic served images from its own hostnames. Any campaign, automation or evergreen flow that still embeds one is embedding a URL on a domain whose HTTPS certificate no longer validates. Send yourself a copy of every live automation and look at the images in a real client, not in the ESP preview.
A timer that fails to load shows the alt text, or a broken image icon, in the middle of an offer you are still paying to send.
- Grep your templates for
kickdynamicin thesrcof every. - Do the same for any template stored in your ESP’s snippet or content library rather than in the campaign itself.
- Check your automations first and your broadcasts second. A broadcast sent last year is finished. A welcome flow is sending today.
- Replace the URLs before you do anything else, including deciding on a long-term vendor. A static image with the deadline written on it is a better stopgap than a broken one.
Where to take the timer
Two honest options, depending on what Kickdynamic was doing for you.
If you used Kickdynamic for the whole personalization suite, Litmus Personalize is the direct successor and holds the same technology. It is sold with the Litmus email QA and testing suite, priced by contact form, and it is a real product with a large review corpus. The trade is covered on the Litmus Personalize page.
If you used it mainly for countdown timers and personalized images, you are buying a suite to get two features. That is what this site exists for. One render engine produces the countdown and the merge-value layers in the same image, on every plan, starting at nothing.
| Kickdynamic, as it was | Litmus Personalize today | EmailTimer.App | |

How to move
Same shape as any timer migration, plus one step for the things Kickdynamic did that a timer tool does not.
- Inventory the dynamic regions first. Countdown, personalized image, product recommendations, polls. Only the first two move to a timer tool.
- Write down the deadline in UTC, the image width in pixels, and the font for each timer you are replacing.
- Rebuild at the same width. An image 40 pixels wider than the old one reflows a two-column table in Outlook.
- Replace the
srcvalue inside the existing. Keep the width attribute, the alt text and any link wrapper. - For flows, choose the matching timing model in the timer types guide and pass the recipient identifier your platform already has.
- Set the expired image. Old flows are exactly where a stale counter on zero turns up.
- Check frame one on its own, the expired state, the dark mode background and the alt text before you schedule.
Questions and answers
Is Kickdynamic still in business?
No. Litmus acquired it on 11 November 2021, and the domain now serves a WP Engine “Site Not Configured” 404 with no redirect. Validity completed its acquisition of Litmus on 10 April 2025, so the technology is two owners away from the original company.
Will my old Kickdynamic timer URLs still work?
Do not assume so. The main domain’s certificate is valid only for wpengine.com hostnames, and the site returns a 404. Check every live automation in a real inbox today, and replace any URL you find.
What replaced Kickdynamic?
Litmus Personalize. Its personalization page still lists countdown timers, alongside scratch-offs, live polls, add-to-calendar, animated video and interest signals. No price is published; the pricing URL redirects to a contact-sales form.
Is there a cheaper route than Litmus for timers?
Yes, if timers and personalized images are what you actually used. Both come out of one render engine here, on every plan, with prices published in dollars and rupees on the pricing page. The comparison across twelve tools is in the roundup.
Why does the domain still resolve if the company is gone?
DNS still points at WP Engine, and WP Engine answers with its default error page for any domain that is not attached to an account. That is what a lapsed hosting setup looks like from the outside. It is not a redirect, and it is not a holding page anyone wrote.
Next: the Litmus Personalize alternative for the direct successor’s pricing, and the Movable Ink alternative if you were comparing the two before the acquisition.
Prices checked on 17 September 2026. Vendors change their prices without announcing it, so check the figure you care about before you act on it.
